AOL Help: About the AOL Email on the Web Authoring Settings

You can using the Authoring settings to set your preferences related to writing and sending email with the AOL Email on the Web service.

 

How to Get to the AOL Email on the Web Authoring Settings Page

1. Go to http://email.aol.co.uk.
2. In the Screen Name box, type your AOL Screen Name.
3. In the Password box, type your AOL password.
4. Click the Sign On button.
5. Click the Settings button.
6. Click the Authoring link to get to the Authoring Settings page.
7. Configure your Authoring Settings by following the FAQs below.

Composing Setting

If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer, you can decide to enable the Use Rich Text / HTML Editing option. This setting allows you to use colour, add formatting, and choose a font for the text in your email message box. To change your setting, click the Use Rich Text / HTML Editing box to either place a check mark in it to enable the feature or clear it to disable the feature.

 

Sending Setting

You can adjust your sending options by clicking the box next to the feature to either place a check mark in it to enable the feature or clear it to disable the feature. There are three features you can select:

  • Check spelling before sending messages: If this option is enabled, the spell checker will automatically start when you click the Send button on an email. You can choose to correct any misspellings it finds before the email is actually sent.
  • Close message window after sending: If this option is enabled, the AOL Write Email window will close automatically instead of waiting for you to click on the Close button.
  • Automatically add email addresses to my Address Book: If this option is enabled, when you send email to an email address not in your address book, that email address will be added to your address book so you can find it in the future.

Signature Setting

You can include a signature on every email you send with the AOL Email on the Web service. You can adjust your signature options by clicking the box next to the feature to either place a check mark in it to enable the feature or clear it to disable the feature. There are two features you can select:

  • Add this signature to messages sent using AOL Email on the Web:: If this option is enabled, you can type a signature in the text box below and the Include my online presence status in my signature option will become available.
  • Include my online presence status in my signature: If this option and the Use Rich Text / HTML Editing option are enabled, an icon will be included in your signature that the recipient can click on to launch the AOL Instant Messenger service, if it is installed on their computer.

Note: To delete a previously saved signature, click the Add this signature to messages sent using AOL Email on the Web: box to clear it, then click the Save button.
