Install AOL Computer Check-Up

The AOL Computer Check-Up feature is an automated troubleshooting and maintenance system for your computer that uses advanced technology to detect your hardware and software configuration. The service will display messages to you that are specific to your PC and configuration. AOL Computer Check-Up detects when you are connected to the AOL service and automatically checks for updates to keep the diagnostic engine and automatic fixes up-to-date.

Download AOL Computer Check-Up

The AOL Computer Check-Up download is quick and easy.

To download AOL Computer Check-Up:

  1. Sign-on to AOL and go to AOL Keyword: Computer Checkup.
  2. Click the Download Computer Check-Up button.
  3. Click the Open button to download Computer Check-Up.
  4. When Computer Check-Up finishes downloading, close your AOL software, then click the OK button.
  5. When you get the Congratulations! message in the AOL Install window, click the Launch button to start Computer Check-Up.

Run a scan with Computer Check-Up

AOL Computer Check-Up can detect possible problems with your computer's configuration and performance, and offer suggestions to help keep your system in optimal working order.

To run Computer Check-Up:

  1. On the Windows desktop, double-click the Computer Check-Up icon.
  2. Click the Check Now button.
  3. Once Computer Check-Up is finished scanning your computer, review the results and follow the instructions as desired. If you choose to allow Computer Check-Up to fix the problems it detects, click the Fix All button.
  4. Click the X in the upper right to close the AOL Computer Check-Up window.

Schedule regular scans

AOL Computer Check-Up is set to scan your computer every two weeks. If you desire to have it check your computer for problems more or less often, you can change the scan schedule.

To change the scan schedule:

  1. On the Windows desktop, double-click the Computer Check-Up icon.
  2. Click the Check-up Schedule tab.
  3. Click the Check every: drop-down menu and change your frequency setting to your desired scan schedule.
  4. Click the at: drop-down menus to change the time the schedule runs.
  5. Click one of the on: options to select the day you want the scan to run on.
  6. If you do not want Computer Check-Up to scan automatically, click the Do not schedule a check-up option to select it.
  7. Click the Save button.
